Hop into the mystical northern lands and set up a magical farm, with the help of Ingrid, a friendly local, in Northern Saga! Plant, water and harvest crops, collect animal produce and gather crafting materials to survive in those wild lands. With raw materials at hand, you could then create delicious food, useful tools, and other valuable goods as well.
To start, the game introduces you to the basics of the game via the helpful guidance of your new friend Ingrid. For instance, most actions in this game will cost you 1 energy point per action. Like most games where “energy” is involved, the energy lost will automatically recharge themselves over time. You can also gather them from your hovel daily, be awarded with a load of them whenever you level up or buy them using real cash from the in-game store. Sometimes, you may even get some free energy by performing actions. Energy, as you may have guessed, is very important in Northern Saga, so be sure to use them only when necessary!
Being a farming simulation game, Northern Saga has plenty of crops on offer, such as wheat, sunflower and cucumber. You can plant any available crop that you like within the limited number of plots provided, and new crops will be unlocked as you progress through the game. Planting crops will only cost you money that you’ll need to purchase the seeds, but in order to get them to start growing, you’ll need to water them. Watering crops will not cost you any water per se, but it does consume your energy points. Once done, you just need to wait for the crops to mature and then harvest them. The harvest will then be stored in your warehouse.
Besides crops, there are also trees that you can plant and grow to obtain fruits like apples, oranges and pear. Not to mention, like most virtual farms, you’ll even get to rear your very own herd of animals. Some of the farm animals available in Northern Saga include chickens, goats, pigs, cows and sheep. The animals you buy from the shop are baby animals though and you’ll need to feed them until they are adults before you can start collecting animal produce from them.
Of course, selling raw materials will only earn you very little amount of cash. To make a more substantial profit, you’ll need to turn these materials into crafted goods and you can do so at the 3 different crafting buildings available in Northern Saga, namely the Kitchen, the Studio and the Workshop. These buildings need to be constructed though and the materials you need can be obtained by collecting stones and wood from the environment. Although the crafting process consumes fire (and you have a limited amount of them), unlike many other games, crafting in Northern Saga is instantaneous! Incredible, isn’t it?
Whew, working on your farm can be hard work! It’s time to take a rest by giving your farm a nice makeover. You can place a huge variety of décor on your farm, such as scarecrow, flowerbeds, fences, and even cobble paths. Running of out space? Well, you can easily unlock new neighboring land by asking your neighbor for special items, have the amount of coins needed as well as the crafted item required.
Fancy giving your avatar a makeover instead? Well, you can! Choose from the many clothes available, pick a color you like, change the hairstyle of your character or even your character’s gender. There are achievements that you can strive for in this game as well, so you’ll never run out of things to do in Northern Saga!
